Why did I re-open this Squidoo Marketing community?

As you may already know, I created six communities here on Ning.com and I've been working steadily on them since late December, 2007.

A couple of weeks ago, I was notified by The Ning Team that my communities were not in compliance with their terms of service because there were links to commercial sites where I could make money and I was not paying for premium service to control the ads.

I was given 24 hours to bring all the communities into compliance or I would lose my Ning account and all the communities. That wasn't nearly enough time, so I closed all six networks and crawled into my cave and sulked for a day or so.

Or, I could pay the $19.95 per month per community so I could control the advertising, which means that I could remove it or add any advertising I wanted. There was no way I could make a business case for spending almost $120 per month for something that wasn't earning anything.

After a lot of thinking, I decided I liked the people I have been meeting through this community. Of all the communities I created, this one could be the most interesting and flexible.

So, I decided to rebuild this community.

I hope the previous members will return and that we'll see lots of new members joining us.

As long as you have a Squidoo lens about a topic, you're welcome to discuss it here. No lens, no discussion. Okay?

If you are a real estate agent in Murphy, NC and you have a blog, why not create a Squidoo lens about your business and syndicate the RSS feed on your lens and your profile page here?

If you are an affiliate of a company, you can build one or more lenses for promoting it, and link to those lenses from your profile on this community.

Are you working to achieve a goal of great importance to you? Create a lens and then let us know.

Do you have a website you created with Site Build It? Build a lens about the topic of your site, join my Squidoo group for SBI webmasters, and syndicate your RSS feed from your site on your profile here.

Do you have a Cafepress shop? Build a lens about your shop, the designs in it, and the products you are selling. Discuss how you create your designs and other topics related to marketing the products in your shop using Squidoo lenses.

As long as your lens is about any topic that is ethical, legal, and has content suitable for all of us (no gambling, porn, etc.) build a lens and tell us about it.

Now, remember, this community is about marketing with Squidoo, and while that may encompass a lot of territory, it isn't all-inclusive. Let's do our best to be friendly, helpful, and courteous. Rude people will be ejected from our community.

Hopefully, we won't suffer any more disruptions and you'll find this community useful enough to participate here.
