Squidoo Marketing Community needs a sponsor...

Good morning, fellow lensmasters. I had hoped I would not have to make this announcement/request, but the time has come where I have to. I need to find a sponsor for this community to cover the costs, or I may have to look for a buyer. Since last September, my business has taken a real hit and I'm in a cashflow crunch right now. Since I re-opened this community a few months ago, I've been paying Ning.com $25 per month to be able to post commercial links on the community and to control the ad… Continue

I think I am falling out of love with Squidoo, at least a little

I just realized that I haven't updated any of my lenses in awhile. Part of the reason is that I'm busy planning a new marketing site to promote local businesses in Murphy, NC, and it's taking a lot of time. Part of the reason is that I'm seeing other lensmasters who have been having problems with their lenses after publishing an update and tripping one of Squidoo's filters. I think this has been resolved now, but it s… Continue

Are you chasing your tail?

On my primary blog, I posted a rambling item called Are you chasing your tail? One of the things that got me to thinking about this is noticing how many people are scattered in their marketing efforts. I've been that way, myself, but I have plans for much more systematic marketing in 2009 and beyond. I hope you'll take a look at that post and add your comments either here or… Continue

Are you active in social networking?

I'm guessing that the answer to this question is yes, since you're here on a social networking community. I don't try to be active - or even have an account - on all the best social networking sites, but I do like to keep busy on a dozen or so of them. Each of us has different areas of interest, so the sites I'm most interested in may leave you cold, and vice versa. I'm on a slow dial-up line, so video doesn't interest me and audio is more trouble than it's worth. By contrast, my daughter wh… Continue

New edition of the Affiliate Masters Course

In early 2000, Ken Evoy released the first edition of his Affiliate Masters Course. It was almost immediately recognized as one of the best sources of training for anyone interested in affiliate marketing who wanted to stand out above the crowd of competing affiliates. The Affiliate Masters Course and Ken's ebook, Make Your Site Sell! were both instrumental in my affiliate marketing success. Way back then, the Affiliate… Continue

I wasn't very active in August

Due to some family issues, I wasn't nearly as active online in August as I usually have been. Things have gone from terrible to just bad and look like they may continue to improve over time. Should you tweet your blog?

I've been thinking a lot about Twitter.com lately. I've been trying to tweet more often, but I don't really want to say anything unless I think it may be useful for the people who follow me. When Squidoo added a feature that lets us tweet when we update a lens, I started using that as judiciously as I could. I certainly don't tweet every time I update a lens. I do try to tweet the release of a new lens, however. Then, I learned about… Continue

Happy Independence Day America!

July 4th is a rather special day for me. Fifty-six years ago, my parents brought their newborn, first child home on Independence Day and my Dad promptly nicknamed me Firecracker. Mom said no, and that was it. I just created a lens that celebrates our nation's birthday and tells a little about my story. I just published it, so it may not be visible until tomorrow. Come visit Independence Day Firecracker. Of cour… Continue
