Someone on here has a lens or two about Stargate. I'll track 'em down later when I have more time.
Yes, I highly recommend Stargate, especially the SG-1 series. When it was canceled and the Atlantis series started, it took me some time to really get into it, but now I love both of them. Atlantis was unexpectedly canceled after their 100th episode in year 5. SG-1 was the longest-running sci-fi series in American history - 10 years.
I've been watching the entire Startrek Next Generation show - in order - from Netflix. I thought I'd seen every episode multiple times, but I found four in season 3 that I've never seen before.
I'm stopping the Startrek NG for awhile and ordered the Stargate movies and I'll be watching season one of Stargate SG-1.
Then, for awhile, it's going to be a season of NG followed by a season of SG-1, etc.
Now that I get no regular TV reception, I have time to watch a few shows on DVD and still get more work done.
I highly recommend Stargate, but I'd start with the original movie with Kurt Russell and then go to SG-1 before watching any of the Atlantis shows. Of course, that's assuming that you have Netflix or can choose what you want to watch in some other way.

Am I right in thinking that you're a Stargate fan? Don't you have a lens about it?
The reason I'm asking is that Stargate Atlantis Season 5 came out on DVD on June 30 and I rented the season from Netflix and finished watching it a couple of days ago.
Have you seen it?
Of all the episodes, the last two keep coming back to mind.
Next to last was "Vegas" where we saw what was happening in an alternate reality.
Last was, I think, "Enemy At The Gate" where we saw some of the consequences of the previous episode in our reality. They didn't really close out the show with the last episode, but it was still an interesting and entertaining episode.
If my memory isn't accurate and you're not a fan, please ignore my ramblings! (grin)
Hope you're doing well and staying cool. It was cold enough last night that I actually got a blanket! I love that in July.

I was just on the Ning.com home page and I like it.
It reminds me of how far I've fallen behind on some networks and that I'll probably go to a few of them and drop my membership.
However, it should make it easier to keep up with what's happening on the ones I intend to remain active in.
