I used to live in the Phoenix area around a quarter-century ago, before moving back to the southeast. The first trip my ex-wife and I made was to the Grand Canyon. I love the Flagstaff area.
Now, I live in a tiny town called Murphy in the SW corner of NC. You were about a half-hour's drive from Murphy when you crossed the Nantahala River on the Appalachian Trail. I'm sure you'll remember how beautiful the mountains of North Carolina are. That's one of the main reasons I've lived here for the last 25 years.
Many years ago when I was much younger, I hiked the lower 250 miles of the AT, and a few other parts of it, but never made a through hike. Congratulations on your success!
