Where Marketing Matters
Obviously I am a newbie, so here is my newbie question.
Am I being too methodical, too detailed, using too many modules and items on my lenses?
I have 14 lenses and 1 in wip. It takes me many hours to make a lens, typically days or weeks. I am puzzled by people posting on facebook about all the lenses they make everyday. Day after day they post 3 or more new lenses. I just don't get how that is possible, at least the way I go about writing my lens. I do realize that everyone has their own style of writing, their own point of view. Some write for sales only, some for information and some a combination. I promote a lot of Zazzle items because I have a Zazzle shop.
So as a lensmaster, should I try to cut back on the quantity of data that I put into a lens? Is it better to make shorter lenses so I can write more of them?
Or should I stick with my longer detailed lenses?
Thanks for any advice,
Kat

Im in the same boat as you, I try to make a quick lens and then it ends up taking over 8 hours and has 40 modules, from a users point of view it may take a while to load and have a lack of focus. On the plus side I can get lots of long tail searches and out perform others in my niche. I think there is a balance, lately Ive been removing modules when updating rather than just adding.

Permalink Reply by Lili Love on December 19, 2011 at 6:12pm Me too! Last week I got the best advice ever - just write as many lenses you can, publish them and then go back and add more content. I am trying to make more lenses, I have many ideas but.. I am very picky about items on my lenses and the english isn't my first language so it's really hard! As a complete newbie, each day I learn something new and then I go back to my lenses and spend all night playing around with html tricks.

I know they can constantly be changed but I want my lens to have a feel that it is complete. I am afraid if I just wrote a bunch for the sake of getting a bunch out, they would look like that was what I was doing. I want them to look like they are worth reading.
