Bidding adieu to X-rated lenses

As we posted over the Summer and messaged to lensmasters individually, we’ve been making a handful of changes to our Squidoo policies, specifically in regards to X-rated content, overly promotional lenses, spam and junk. Little by little over the last few months, we’ve implemented and released system filters to support our updated policies. Tomorrow we’ll be [...]

Evening maintenance

Just a heads up about planned maintenance: Between 6:30pm and 8:30pm Eastern time tonight (Friday, 10/30/09) we’ll be disabling lens editing for some database maintenance. Lenses will be visible and reachable as usual, but lensmasters won’t be able to edit them or create new ones during that 2 hour window. That is all!

There’s no monopoly on generosity.

When something is successful, there’s bound to be spinoffs. Bandwagoneers. Hangers-on. Maybe even copycats. If you’re really successful, you’re also going to see the good side of this: Tools that leverage your platform, ebooks teaching people how to navigate it, blogs spotlighting the best of it, communities grouping up around it, and on and [...]

Improved Tag Pages at Squidoo

Recently, Squidoo updated their tag pages to be more useful to visitors and search engines. If you’re not familiar with tag pages, these are pages that list lenses that use a particular tag. SquidUtils: The Story So far

Once upon a time, probably during April of 2007, I started making a few tools for Squidoo Lensmasters. I don’t know the exact date, but I figure that “2 years ago” is close enough. "Tamar and I did lots and lots of research on kid birthday parties and started experimenting with our ideas on kids and during parties whenever the opportunity arose. We wrote up lots of content for the site and I was in charge of strategy and building the site from a technical aspect (although, with Site Build It!, you really don't need any technical knowledge because you can build a site through simple building blocks and monitor every aspect of traffic through a consolidated control center.).
